Why Curry has 4 rings but 1 Finals MVP
A teammate took the Finals MVP award in three of Curry’s four title runs. In 2015 he led Golden State in Finals scoring at 26.0 points a game, yet the voters picked Andre Iguodala, who averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists. In 2017 and 2018 the award went to Kevin Durant, who averaged 35.2 and 28.8 points in those series.

Ring 1: 2015, Warriors 4, Cavaliers 2
Curry won his first regular-season MVP in 2014-15, then led Golden State to the Finals against LeBron James and Cleveland. The Warriors fell behind 2-1 after a 96-91 loss in Game 3. They answered with three straight wins by 21, 13 and 8 points.
Curry closed it in Cleveland on June 16 with 25 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds in a 105-97 Game 6. He averaged 26.0 points for the series and made 25 threes. He was 27.
Ring 2: 2017, Warriors 4, Cavaliers 1
This was Kevin Durant’s first season in Golden State, and the third straight Finals against Cleveland. The Warriors won the first three games, lost Game 4 in Cleveland 137-116, then finished the series at home with a 129-120 win on June 12.
Curry had 34 points and 10 assists in the clincher. His series line of 26.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 9.4 assists came within a whisker of a triple-double average. He was 29.
Ring 3: 2018, Warriors 4, Cavaliers 0
The fourth Warriors-Cavaliers Finals in a row was the only sweep. Curry hit 9 of 17 threes in Game 2 on his way to 33 points in a 122-103 win.
In Game 4 in Cleveland he scored 37 with seven threes, and Golden State won 108-85 on June 8. He averaged 27.5 points and made 22 threes in four games. It was his third title in four seasons, at age 30.

Boston led 2-1 after a 116-100 win in Game 3. Curry replied in Game 4 at TD Garden with 43 points, 10 rebounds and seven threes in a 107-97 win that tied the series. Golden State took Game 5 at home and won Game 6 in Boston 103-90 on June 16, with Curry scoring 34 points to go with 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

The 2016 loss stings most. Golden State went 73-9 that season, Curry became the first unanimous MVP in league history, and the Warriors led Cleveland 3-1.
