Title as head coach Ring as a player Won as player and coach in the same year

Four eras of Super Bowl coaching
1966 to 1979: Lombardi first, then Noll wins four in six years
Vince Lombardi won the first two Super Bowls with Green Bay. Chuck Noll then won four with Pittsburgh from the 1974 to 1979 seasons, and he never lost one.
1981 to 1991: Walsh and Gibbs win three each
Bill Walsh won three with San Francisco. Joe Gibbs won three with Washington, each with a different starting quarterback: Joe Theismann, Doug Williams and Mark Rypien.
1992 to 1995: three Dallas titles under two coaches
Jimmy Johnson won back to back Super Bowls with the Cowboys, and Barry Switzer added another two seasons later. Tom Landry had won the first two, so all five Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl wins came under three coaches.
2001 to 2023: Belichick wins six, Reid wins three
Belichick’s six came over 18 seasons with New England, from 2001 to 2018. Andy Reid won three with Kansas City in five seasons, from 2019 to 2023.
Both won two in a row, as did Lombardi, Don Shula, Noll, Johnson and Mike Shanahan. No coach has won three straight.
